Quad City rides Conway to victory over Bloomington, 2-1

The Quad City Mallards relied on the sparkling performance of Neil Conway in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Bloomington Blaze.

Quad City was led by Mickey Lang, who registered one goal. Lang scored on the power play 10:01 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. A abuse of officials penalty on Kyle Bochek had put the Mallards on the power play. Matt Duffy provided the assist.

Quad City's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 14 shots between them. With 32 shots on target during the contest, the Mallards exceeded the 25.1 shots they average per game this year.

Quad City also got a goal from Matt Boyd as well. In addition, Quad City received assists from Bob Preece, Patrik Levesque, and Jason Dixon, who each chipped in one.

Bloomington did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blaze average 3.5 goals per game. Bloomington relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as David Gilbert, Dan Barczuk and Jon Booras took 19 of the team's 32 shots.

More assists for Bloomington came via Pier-Olivier Pelletier and Sean OConnor, who contributed one a piece.

Conway rejected 31 shots on goal for Quad City. The Mallards incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Pier-Olivier Pelletier made 30 saves for the Blaze on 32 shots. Bloomington incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Blaze ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bochek was ejected from the game.
