Arizona beats Fort Worth 3-0 as Brown gains shutout

Tims Toyota Center    Fri, Mar 22, 2013

The Arizona Sundogs used a sparkling performance by David Brown to take down the Fort Worth Brahmas, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Arizona's 3-0 shutout victory.

The Sundogs were led by Zack Firlotte, who tallied one goal. Firlotte scored 3:43 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Arizona. Kevin Baker picked up the assist.

Arizona stifled Fort Worth's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Sundogs' defensive effort looked to be improved. Arizona averages 2.8 goals allowed per game. The Sundogs put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 19.7 they average per game. Arizona found itself short handed often, totaling 17 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Arizona also got points from Jeff Kyrzakos, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kip Brennan also scored for Arizona. In addition, Arizona received assists from Sebastien Geoffrion, Johan Ryd, Keith Wynn, and Kirill Tulupov, who each chipped in one.

The Brahmas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Sundogs to score on any of their three power plays. Fort Worth was held below its usual level of production. The Brahmas average 2.8 goals per game. The 26 shots that Fort Worth put on net surpassed the Brahmas' average of 13.8 shots per game this season.

Fort Worth was led by Tomas Klempa, who took five shots.
