Missouri survives Quad City comeback, wins 3-1Silverstein Eye Centers Arena Sat, Mar 16, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Quad City Mallards tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Missouri Mavericks held on for a 3-1 victory. Missouri made the score 3-0 on a goal by Sebastien Thinel at 5:41 in the second period, and Quad City got as close as 3-1 when Matt Duffy scored 14:09 into the third period. The Mavericks were led by goalie Mike Clemente, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Clemente certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.24 entering the contest. Missouri's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Quad City power plays. The Mavericks were helped by Brandon Smith, who grabbed one goal. Smith scored 18:39 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Missouri. Evan Vossen picked up the assist. Missouri also got a goal from Kenton Miller as well. In addition, Missouri received assists from Eric Meland, Jesse Perrin, John-Scott Dickson, and Colt King, who each chipped in one. The Mallards were held below their usual level of production. Quad City puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Missouri was unable to stop the Mallards from sending pucks towards the net, and Quad City eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Obi Aduba and Anthony Perdicaro, who contributed one a piece. The Mavericks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Neil Conway made 19 saves for the Mallards on 22 shots. Quad City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
