Allen squeaks by Missouri, 5-3

The Allen Americans gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Missouri Mavericks.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Adam Pineault secured the win for Allen with a goal in the third period.

Pineault had a great game for the Americans, netting two goals.

Allen pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The Americans put 37 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.4 they average per game.

Allen additionally got points from Kale Kerbashian, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Allen also got a goal from Trevor Ludwig as well. More assists for Allen came via Chris Doyle, who had two and Drew Daniels, Tyler Ludwig, Anthony Maiani, Jason Deitsch, and Jamie Schaafsma, who contributed one a piece.

Missouri forced Allen goalie Aaron Dell to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

The Mavericks were led by Colt King, who registered one goal and two assists. King scored on the power play 12:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Missouri had gained a power play chance when Jim McKenzie was whistled for hooking. Sebastien Thinel provided the assist. Missouri also got points from Trevor Kell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and John-Scott Dickson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Missouri received assists from Kyle Hood, who had one.

Aaron Dell made 38 saves for the Americans on 41 shots. Allen registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Mavericks' Mike Clemente stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Missouri incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
