The Allen Americans took the lead against the Fort Worth Brahmas in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

Allen took over the lead for good with a goal by Brian McMillin at 8:31 in the first period. Jason Deitsch picked up the assist.

The Americans were paced by Tyler Ludwig, who finished with one goal. Ludwig scored 11:14 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Allen. Kale Kerbashian provided the assist.

Allen relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Ludwig, Jamie Schaafsma and McMillin took 13 of the team's 24 shots.

Allen also got points from McMillin, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jarret Lukin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Allen also got a goal from Adam Pineault as well. More assists for Allen came via Trevor Ludwig, who had two and Drew Daniels and Anthony Maiani, who contributed one a piece.

Fort Worth managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Brahmas ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. The 30 shots that Fort Worth put on net surpassed the Brahmas' average of 22.0 shots per game this season.

Fort Worth was helped by John Snowden, who had one goal. Snowden scored on the power play 41 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Allen. The Brahmas had gained a power play chance when Deitsch was whistled for tripping. Tomas Klempa picked up the assist. Gregg Eskedjian also scored for Fort Worth. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Worth were Shawn Szydlowski and Sy Nutkevitch, who each chipped in one.

The Americans' Steve Silverthorn stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Allen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brad Fogal made 20 saves for Fort Worth on 23 shots. The Brahmas registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
