Brown stymies Rapid City, Arizona wins 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by David Brown helped the Arizona Sundogs defeat Rapid City, 4-1.

Arizona was sparked by Derek LeBlanc, who grabbed one goal and one assist. LeBlanc scored 9:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Arizona. Matt McCready picked up the assist.

The Sundogs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Rapid City power plays.

Arizona additionally got points from Chad Nehring, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Arizona also got a goal from Adam Smyth as well. In addition, Arizona received assists from Johan Ryd, who had two and Matt Register and Mario Larocque, who each chipped in one.

With 35 shots on target during the contest, Rapid City exceeded the 26.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Rapid City was led by Scott Brannon, who scored the team's only goal. Brannon scored 10:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City.

Arizona's Brown stopped 34 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Sundogs totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Rapid City's starting goalie, Danny Battochio, made 20 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tim Boron, who stopped three shots. Rapid City ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
