GAME RECAP

Fort Worth outlasts Denver, 1-0

Denver Coliseum    Sat, Feb 09, 2013

The game between the Fort Worth Brahmas and the Denver Cutthroats proved to be an even match, as Fort Worth took home the victory by scoring only once in a 1-0 win.

The assists on the winning goal came courtesy of Daniel Spivak and Sy Nutkevitch.

The Brahmas pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Fort Worth was paced by Tomas Klempa, who had one goal. Klempa scored 6:18 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fort Worth. Spivak picked up the assist.

The Brahmas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Denver power plays. Fort Worth's defensive play was more effective than usual against Denver. The Brahmas allow 2.8 goals per game. Fort Worth put 25 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.4 it averages per game.

The Cutthroats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Brahmas to score on any of their five power plays. Denver was held below its usual level of production. The Cutthroats average 2.9 goals per game. Denver could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 17 minutes in penalties during the game. The Cutthroats relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Brad Smyth, A.J. Gale and Gabe Gauthier took 14 of the team's 23 shots.

Fort Worth's Brad Fogal stopped 23 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Kieran Millan made 24 saves for Denver on 25 shots.
