Ben Gordon scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Tulsa Oilers picked up the extra point in a 2-1 (3-1 SO) win over the Wichita Thunder.

The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout. Wichita's shootout goal was scored by Neil Trimm. Tulsa's other shootout goals were scored by Ryan Menei and Gordon.

The Oilers' Shane Madolora was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 41 saves and let only one puck past him. Madolora managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.15 prior to the game.

Tulsa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Wichita power plays. With 24 shots on target during the contest, the Oilers exceeded the 20.2 shots they average per game this year.

Tulsa was helped by Patrick Schafer, who registered one goal. Schafer scored 9:13 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Tulsa. Justin Fox picked up the assist. More assists for Tulsa came via Kyle OKane, who had one.

The Thunder excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Wichita did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Thunder put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The defense for Wichita played an important role offensively, racking up 20 shots on goal. The Thunder forced the Oilers goalie Madolora to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Wichita was led by Jarred Mohr, who scored the team's only goal. Mohr scored 2:53 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Matt Robinson provided the assist.

Tulsa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Thunder's Torrie Jung stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Wichita incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
