Fort Worth uses shootout to best Allen, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Brendon Hodge scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Fort Worth Brahmas picked up the extra point in a 2-1 (2-1 SO) win over the Allen Americans.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Allen's shootout goal was scored by Jamie Schaafsma. In addition to the clincher, Fort Worth got a shootout goal from Sy Nutkevitch.

The Brahmas came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Fort Worth trailed 1-0 after a goal by the Americans' Drew Daniels at 1:51 in the first period. The Brahmas knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Shawn Szydlowski at 18:45 in the third period.

Fort Worth put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 19.9 it averages per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Fort Worth were John Snowden and Adam Hogg, who contributed one a piece.

Allen was held below its usual level of production. The Americans average 3.4 goals per game. Allen's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with eight shots between them.

More assists for Allen came via Jason Deitsch and Mike Montgomery, who each chipped in one.

Brad Fogal rejected 18 shots on goal for the Brahmas. Fort Worth incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Americans' Aaron Dell stopped 25 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Allen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
