Ryan Menei scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Tulsa Oilers picked up the extra point in a 5-4 (4-1 SO) win over the Wichita Thunder.

The shootout featured seven attempts between both teams. Wichita got a shootout goal from Matt Robinson. Tulsa's other shootout goals were scored by Michel Beausoleil, Menei, and Ben Gordon.

Menei was all over the ice for the Oilers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Menei scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tulsa. Tulsa earned a power play opportunity when RG Flath was put in the box for cross checking. Sean Erickson provided the assist. Menei's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Tulsa with 10:41 left in the third period. Drew Fisher picked up the assist.

By firing 29 shots on goal, the Oilers exceeded the 19.5 shots they average per game this year. Tulsa outdid its season average for goals scored. The Oilers average 2.9 goals per game. Tulsa's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 14 shots on net during the game.

The Oilers were led by Menei, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Tulsa additionally got points from Gordon, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Fisher, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Jeff Buvinow and Shane Madolora, who each chipped in one.

The Thunder's defensemen bolstered Wichita's offensive attack, as they bombarded Madolora with 21 shots. The 50 shots that the Thunder put on net surpassed Wichita's average of 28.8 shots per game this season.

The Thunder were helped by Neil Trimm, who had one goal and one assist. Trimm scored 18:59 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Nathan Lutz provided the assist. Wichita also got points from David Inman, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Gregor Hanson also scored for Wichita. More assists for Wichita came via Matt Summers, Jarred Mohr, Andrew Martens, and Robinson, who contributed one a piece.

Tulsa's Madolora stopped 46 shots out of the 50 that he faced. The Oilers totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play. Torrie Jung rejected 24 shots on goal for Wichita. The Thunder totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play.
