Denver wins tough contest against Bloomington, 4-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Denver Cutthroats escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Bloomington Blaze.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Glenn Cacaro secured the win for Denver with a goal in the third period.

The Cutthroats were led by Cacaro, who tallied one goal. Cacaro scored 56 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-3 Denver. Troy Schwab assisted on the tally.

Denver's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The 36 shots that the Cutthroats put on net surpassed Denver's average of 21.8 shots per game this season.

Denver additionally got points from Ben Wilson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brad Smyth also scored for Denver. More assists for Denver came via Sean Zimmerman and Chris Greene, who contributed one a piece and Brett Lutes and A.J. Gale, who each chipped in two.

Bloomington's offense rang up 40 shots on the Cutthroats' net.

The Blaze were led by Nicklas Lindberg, who finished with one goal and one assist. Lindberg scored 16:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Denver. Jeremy Gates provided the assist. Bloomington also got a goal from Steve Makway as well. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Matthew Larke, who had two and Travis Granbois and Ryan Palmer, who contributed one a piece.

Kent Patterson recorded 37 saves for Denver. The Cutthroats totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Bloomington's Pier-Olivier Pelletier stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Blaze totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
