The Denver Cutthroats tried their best to erase a five-goal deficit, but the Bloomington Blaze would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-4.

Bloomington made the score 6-1 on a goal by Jared Walker at 18:36 in the second period, and Denver got as close as 6-4 when A.J. Gale scored 11:43 into the third period.

The Blaze got the win behind a great game by Nicklas Lindberg, who had two goals and one assist. Lindberg scored the first of his two goals at 11:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jon Booras picked up the assist. Lindberg's next tally made the score 4-1 Bloomington with 12:05 left in the second period.

Bloomington forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and four majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Blaze had been spending in the box. Bloomington's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Blaze average 3.9 goals per contest.
