Quad City beats Bloomington 5-2 as Stinziani gets hat trick

A hat trick by Mike Stinziani was the highlight in Mallards' 5-2 win against the Bloomington Blaze.

Stinziani got on the scoresheet 8:36 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:31 into the second and at 5:23 into the third.

The Quad City Mallards put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.1 they average per game. Quad City surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Mallards average 2.7 goals per contest.

Anthony Perdicaro also scored for Quad City. In addition, Quad City received assists from Mickey Lang, who had two and Derek Matheson, Jason Kostadine, Matt Boyd, and Mitch McColm, who each chipped in one.

Bloomington was helped by Jay Barriball, who tallied one goal. Barriball scored on the power play 15:20 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. The Blaze had gotten the advantage when Quad City's Bob Preece was sent off for roughing. Nicklas Lindberg assisted on the tally. Bloomington also got a goal from Ryan Palmer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington were Aaron Dawson and Jared Walker, who contributed one a piece.

Neil Conway rejected 24 shots on goal for the Mallards. Quad City totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Pier-Olivier Pelletier recorded 25 saves for Bloomington. The Blaze totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
