The game between the Fort Worth Brahmas and the Wichita Thunder was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Fort Worth emerged with a 4-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Shawn Szydlowski's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

The Brahmas were sparked by Szydlowski, who finished with one goal. Szydlowski scored on the power play 13:01 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fort Worth. A cross checking penalty on Jon Madden had put Fort Worth on the power play. Ross Rouleau picked up the assist.

The Brahmas forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Fort Worth surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game.

Fort Worth additionally got points from Calin Wild, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Austin Mayer also scored for Fort Worth. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Worth were Sy Nutkevitch, Daniel Spivak, John Snowden, and Adam Hogg, who each chipped in one.

Wichita could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 17 minutes in penalties during the game. The 37 shots that the Thunder put on net surpassed Wichita's average of 27.7 shots per game this season.

The Thunder were helped by Les Reaney, who tallied one goal. Reaney scored on the power play 17:30 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Wichita. Wichita had gained a power play chance when Nutkevitch was whistled for interference. Kevin Young provided the assist. Wichita also got a goal from David Inman as well. More assists for Wichita came via Gregor Hanson, who had one and Matt Summers, who had two.

Brad Fogal made 35 saves for the Brahmas on 37 shots. Fort Worth registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Torrie Jung rejected 18 shots on goal for the Thunder. Wichita registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
