Fort Worth's Hodge deadly on offense in 3-0 win against Arizona

The Fort Worth Brahmas relied on the scoring touch of Brendon Hodge, who netted two goals, to beat the Arizona Sundogs, 3-0.

Hodge found the back of the net 12:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Worth and again while on the power play 9:12 into the third to make the score 3-0 Fort Worth.

Fort Worth put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Arizona to score on any of its three power plays. The Brahmas' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Sundogs. Fort Worth gives up 2.9 goals on average per game. The Brahmas' offense was clicking better than usual and put 26 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.0 shots per game they average.

Fort Worth also got a goal from Phil Fox as well. More assists for Fort Worth came via Shawn Szydlowski, who had two and Sy Nutkevitch, Erik Spady, Austin Mayer, and Tomas Klempa, who each chipped in one.

Arizona could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Sundogs average 2.5 goals per game. By firing 24 shots on goal, Arizona exceeded the 19.2 shots it averages per game this year.

The Sundogs were led by Chad Nehring, who took five shots.

Kristofer Westblom rejected 24 shots on goal for Fort Worth. The Brahmas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Adam Russo made 23 saves for Arizona on 26 shots. The Sundogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
