Obi Aduba scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Quad City Mallards picked up the extra point in a 3-2 (3-0 SO) win over Rapid City. The shootout lasted for seven attempts between the teams. Quad City also got shootout goals from Aduba and Mickey Lang.The Mallards managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Quad City ended up below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The 36 shots that the Mallards put on net surpassed Quad City's average of 28.4 shots per game this season. The Mallards were led by Mike Hellyer, who racked up one goal and one assist. Hellyer scored 7:03 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Lang picked up the assist.
