The Wichita Thunder's Kevin Young scored 32 seconds into overtime to beat the Missouri Mavericks, 4-3 (OT).

Wichita overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Thunder fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Missouri's Dave Pszenyczny at 17:55 in the first period. Wichita tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Matt Summers at 14:54 in the third period.

The Thunder were led by Young, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Wichita averages 34.0 shots on goal per game, but only sent 27 pucks on net against the Mavericks.

Wichita additionally got points from Chad Painchaud, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Summers, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Neil Trimm, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Wichita came via Gregor Hanson, Ian Lowe, David Inman, and RG Flath, who each chipped in one.

Missouri stifled the Thunder's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mavericks forced Wichita goalie Kevin Regan to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Missouri's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Mavericks finished with 17 penalty minutes.

Missouri was led by Kenton Miller, who registered two goals. Miller scored the first of his two goals at 38 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. John-Scott Dickson assisted on the tally. Miller's next tally made the score 3-2 Missouri with 13:02 left in the second period. Blake Forsyth picked up the assist. In addition, Missouri received assists from Matt McCready, who had one and Sebastien Thinel, who had two.

The Thunder's Regan stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Wichita totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Austin Lee rejected 23 shots on goal for the Mavericks. Missouri registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
