The Quad City Mallards and the Wichita Thunder both failed to score in overtime, but Quad City won the game 3-2 (2-1 SO) after Obi Aduba's deciding goal in the shootout.

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. Wichita's shootout goal was scored by Chad Painchaud. The Mallards' other shootout goal was scored by Marcello Ranallo.

The Thunder's power play was ineffective against Quad City's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Mallards were led by Aduba, who had one goal. Aduba scored 3:20 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Quad City. Patrik Levesque assisted on the tally.

Quad City racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The Mallards had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Quad City was led by Aduba, who registered one goal. Quad City also got a goal from Eddie Effinger as well. More assists for Quad City came via Michael Monfredo, who had one.

Wichita's offense rang up 38 shots on the Mallards' net.

The Thunder were helped by Andrew Martens, who finished with one goal. Martens scored 3:28 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Ian Lowe picked up the assist. Wichita additionally got points from Neil Trimm, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Wichita received assists from Painchaud, who had one.

Joe Palmer rejected 36 shots on goal for Quad City. The Mallards registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Wichita's Kevin Regan stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Thunder ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
