The Quad City Mallards and the Wichita Thunder both failed to score in overtime, but Quad City won the game 3-2 (2-1 SO) after Obi Aduba's deciding goal in the shootout. The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. Wichita's shootout goal was scored by Chad Painchaud. The Mallards' other shootout goal was scored by Marcello Ranallo.The Thunder's power play was ineffective against Quad City's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.
