Fort Worth wins tough contest against Allen, 3-2

The game between the Fort Worth Brahmas and the Allen Americans was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Fort Worth emerged with a 3-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Shawn Szydlowski's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

The Brahmas were sparked by Szydlowski, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Szydlowski scored 14:27 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fort Worth. Sy Nutkevitch provided the assist.

Fort Worth also got points from Brendon Hodge, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Riley Boychuk also scored for Fort Worth. More assists for Fort Worth came via Phil Fox and Cody Hamilton, who each chipped in one.

Allen's offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 29.8 shots per game it averages.

The Americans were led by Mike Montgomery, who tallied one goal and one assist. Montgomery scored on the power play 7:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Allen had gotten the advantage when Fort Worth's Stuart Jacobson was sent off for slashing. Darryl Bootland assisted on the tally. Allen also got a goal from Anthony Maiani as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Brett Skinner and Jarret Lukin, who contributed one a piece.

Brad Fogal rejected 38 shots on goal for the Brahmas. Fort Worth incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Aaron Dell recorded 24 saves for the Americans. Allen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
