Denver downs Missouri in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Denver Cutthroats' Jamie MacQueen scored 2:04 into overtime to beat the Missouri Mavericks, 4-3 (OT).

Although Denver was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Missouri kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Mavericks got to within 3-2 on a goal by Matt McCready at 5:25 in the third period.

Brad Smyth had one goal and two assists to lead the Cutthroats. Smyth scored 13:29 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Denver. A.J. Gale picked up the assist.

Denver relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Kyle Quincey, Gale and Luke Fulghum took 23 of the team's 38 shots.

Denver additionally got points from Gale, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Denver also got a goal from Markus Lauridsen as well. In addition, Denver received assists from Troy Schwab, who had three.

Missouri did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Mavericks put an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game. Missouri forced the Cutthroats goalie Kent Patterson to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Mavericks were helped by John-Scott Dickson, who tallied one goal. Dickson scored on the power play 14:09 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Missouri had taken the advantage when Denver's Gabriel Beaupre got sent off for tripping. Derek LeBlanc assisted on the tally. Missouri also got points from Jeff Pierce, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Missouri came via Sebastien Thinel, who had two and Brian Bicek and Ryan Jardine, who each chipped in one.

The Cutthroats' Patterson stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Denver incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mike Clemente recorded 34 saves for the Mavericks. Missouri incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
