Behind a great game by Alex Bourret, who had one goal and two assists, the Wichita Thunder defeated the Texas Brahmas, 8-1.

Bourret beat Brad Fogal with a shot 1:18 into the second period short handed to make the score 2-1 Wichita. Jarred Mohr picked up the assist. Bourret dished an assist on Thomas Beauregard's goal that made the score 4-1 Wichita at 12:08 into the second period. He added another helper on Beauregard's goal that made the score 5-1 Wichita at 14:04 into the second period.

The win gave Wichita a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Thunder's Adam Russo was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Russo managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.89 prior to the game.

Wichita pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 46 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:56 into the third period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Texas to score on any of its six power plays. Wichita relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Beauregard, Aaron Davis and Matt Robinson took 12 of the team's 21 shots.

Wichita also got points from Robinson, who also had one goal and one assist and Chris Greene, who also registered one goal and two assists. Wichita also got a goal from Matt Summers as well. More assists for Wichita came via Kevin Seibel, who had two and Chris Chappell, who had three.

The Brahmas were led by Adam Hogg, who scored the team's only goal. Hogg scored 2:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Mike Hellyer assisted on the tally.

The Thunder registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For Wichita, Erick Lizon and Justin Sawyer were ejected from the contest. Mark Guggenberger made seven saves before being replaced by Fogal, who took the loss and made six saves. Texas ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major.
