Missouri downs Evansville, 5-2

Sebastien Thinel racked up two points to lead the Missouri Mavericks to a 5-2 victory over the Evansville IceMen.

Missouri managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Mavericks finished below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Missouri relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Ed McGrane, Andrew Courtney and Thinel took 18 of the team's 35 shots.

Missouri also got points from Dale Mahovsky, who also had one goal and two assists. Missouri also got a goal from Patrick Schafer as well. In addition, Missouri received assists from John-Scott Dickson, who had three and Brandon Smith and David Simoes, who contributed one a piece.

With 30 shots on target during the contest, Evansville exceeded the 24.6 shots it averages per game this year.

The IceMen were helped by Maxime Boisclair, who registered one goal. Boisclair scored 19 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 Missouri. Matt Gens assisted on the tally. Sean OConnor also scored for Evansville. More assists for Evansville came via Luke Stauffacher and Matt Pierce, who each chipped in one.

Charlie Effinger rejected 28 shots on goal for the Mavericks. Missouri registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Bryan Gillis took the loss and made 21 saves before being replaced by Pier-Olivier Pelletier who made nine saves. Evansville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities.
