Schrock's goals lift Fort Wayne to 5-2 victory over Laredo

Behind a great game by Kaleigh Schrock, who had two goals, the Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Laredo Bucks, 5-2.

Schrock found the back of the net 18:03 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fort Wayne and again while short handed 5:31 into the third to make the score 4-2 Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Laredo to score on any of its three power plays. The Komets' offense rang up 37 shots on the Bucks' net.

Fort Wayne also got points from Bobby Chaumont, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Fort Wayne also got a goal from Mike Vaskivuo as well. In addition, Fort Wayne received assists from Frankie DeAngelis, Stephon Thorne, and Brett Smith, who contributed one a piece and Jean-Michel Rizk and Colin Chaulk, who each chipped in two.

Laredo's defensemen bolstered the Bucks' offensive attack, as they bombarded Gerry Festa with nine shots.

Laredo was helped by Colin McIntosh, who grabbed one goal. McIntosh scored 10:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Sparling picked up the assist. A.J. Hau also scored for Laredo. More assists for Laredo came via Trevor Hunt and Tyler Stitt, who contributed one a piece.

Fort Wayne's Festa stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Komets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Torrie Jung rejected 32 shots on goal for the Bucks.
