OBrien stymies Bloomington, Missouri wins 4-1

Grossinger Motors Arena    Fri, Mar 16, 2012

The Missouri Mavericks capitalized on the deft passing of Sebastien Thinel, who garnered four assists to take down the Bloomington Blaze, 4-1.

Bloomington was stymied by Missouri netminder BJ OBrien, who stopped 36 shots during the victory. Even though OBrien played well, his goals against average suffered, as his one goal against exceeded his season average of 1.0.

The Mavericks relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Andrew Courtney, Ed McGrane and David Simoes took 18 of the team's 33 shots.

More assists for Missouri came via John-Scott Dickson, who had one.

The Blaze's offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 19 shots on net during the game. Bloomington's offense rang up 37 shots on Missouri's net.

The Blaze were led by Jon Booras, who scored the team's only goal. Booras scored on the power play 13:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A tripping penalty on Courtney had put Bloomington on the power play. Brandon Richardson provided the assist.

The Mavericks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Blaze's Brian Mahoney-Wilson stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Bloomington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
