The Arizona Sundogs failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2. Rio Grande Valley was paced by Reid Edmondson, who racked up one goal. Edmondson scored 13:05 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Rio Grande Valley. Mike Wilson assisted on the tally. The Killer Bees put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.0 they average per game. Aaron Lee also scored for Rio Grande Valley. Other players who recorded assists for Rio Grande Valley were Nicolas Rioux, Georgi Petrov, Jason Dixon, Tomas Klempa, Kirill Startsev, and Dan Gendur, who each chipped in one. Arizona forced Rio Grande Valley goalie Wylie Rogers to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Sundogs were led by Craig Macdonald, who had one goal. Rio Grande Valley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Scott Reid recorded 31 saves for Arizona. The Sundogs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
