Allen vanquishes Laredo in shootout, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Brian McMillin scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Allen picked up the extra point in a 5-4 (2-1 SO) win over the Laredo Bucks.

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Laredo got a shootout goal from Erik Boisvert. Allen's other shootout goal was scored by Jim McKenzie.

Allen saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Allen made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by McKenzie at 17:06 in the second period. The Bucks evened things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Matt Boyd at 18:53 in the third period.

Allen put 38 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.1 it averages per game.

Allen also got points from Jason Deitsch, who also had one goal and one assist. Allen also got a goal from Colton Yellow Horn as well. In addition, Allen received assists from Trevor Hendrikx, who had two and Matt Register, Keith Johnson, Mark Nebus, and Dylan King, who each chipped in one.

With 30 shots on target during the contest, Laredo exceeded the 26.9 shots it averages per game this year. The defensemen of the Bucks were also effective in Allen's zone, and came away with two goals.

Laredo was helped by Adam Rivet, who tallied one goal. Rivet scored 1:11 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Allen. Laredo additionally got points from Trevor Hunt, who also registered one goal and one assist. David Inman also scored for Laredo. Other players who recorded assists for Laredo were Neil Trimm, who had one and Rusty Masters and Ryan Sparling, who each chipped in two.

Rejean Beauchemin rejected 26 shots on goal for Allen. Allen totaled 36 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For Allen, Nebus was ejected from the game. Ryan Rondeau recorded 33 saves for the Bucks. Laredo totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play.
