Rogers, Rio Grande Valley blank Texas, 4-0

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees used a sparkling performance by Wylie Rogers to take down the Texas Brahmas, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Rio Grande Valley's 4-0 shutout victory.

The Killer Bees pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Rio Grande Valley excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Killer Bees were below their usual level of shot production, taking 15 shots compared to the 22.5 Rio Grande Valley averages.

The Killer Bees were helped by Tomas Klempa, who racked up one goal. Klempa scored 15:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rio Grande Valley. Mike Wilson provided the assist. Rio Grande Valley additionally got points from Dan Gendur, who also had one goal and one assist. Aaron Lee also scored for Rio Grande Valley. In addition, Rio Grande Valley received assists from Nicolas Rioux, Brady Leavold, and Craig Lineker, who each chipped in one.

Texas stifled Rio Grande Valley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Brahmas could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Texas averages 2.5 goals per game. The Brahmas put 28 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.1 they average per game.

Texas was led by Chad Woollard, who took four shots.

The Killer Bees' Rogers stopped 28 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Rio Grande Valley registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Mark Guggenberger recorded 11 saves for the Brahmas. Texas incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
