Greene leads Wichita over Evansville, 8-5

Chris Greene had two goals and two assists to lead the Wichita Thunder to an 8-5 victory over the Evansville IceMen.

Greene's tallies came at 4:02 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 11:06 into the third to make the score 5-5.

Wichita excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Thunder outdid their season average for goals scored. Wichita averages 3.6 goals per game. The Thunder got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Wichita put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.8 it averages per game.

Wichita also got points from Francis Trudel, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Colin Hemingway, who also registered one goal and one assist, RG Flath, who also had one goal and one assist, Justin Sawyer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Matt Summers, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Wichita also got a goal from Aaron Davis as well. More assists for Wichita came via Kevin Seibel, Chris Chappell, and Jarred Mohr, who contributed two a piece.

Evansville managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The IceMen finished below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game.

Evansville was led by Malcolm Gwilliam, who finished with one goal and two assists. Gwilliam scored 24 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Evansville. Todd Robinson picked up the assist. Evansville additionally got points from Josh Beaulieu, who also registered one goal and one assist. John Ronan also scored for Evansville. Other players who recorded assists for Evansville were Chad Langlais, who had two and Brian Bicek, Philippe Plante, and Matt Pierce, who each chipped in one.

The Thunder's Adam Russo stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Wichita incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pier-Olivier Pelletier made 24 saves for the IceMen on 30 shots.
