The Evansville IceMen's Nicklas Lindberg scored 1:47 into overtime to beat the Dayton Gems, 2-1 (OT). Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 16 penalties during the game. Evansville was sparked by Lindberg, who registered one goal. The IceMen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dayton to score on any of its five power plays. Evansville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Matt Gens, who totaled six minutes in penalty time with three minors. By firing 39 shots on goal, the IceMen exceeded the 29 shots they average per game this year. Malcolm Gwilliam also scored for Evansville. In addition, Evansville received assists from Brian Bicek, Todd Robinson, Philippe Plante, and Steve Makway, who contributed one each.
