Texas penalty kill dominates in 3-1 defeat of Rio Grande Valley

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Texas Brahmas shook off a number of penalties to win, 3-1.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 19 penalties during the game.

Texas was led by Chad Woollard, who had one goal. Woollard scored on the power play 14:43 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Texas. The Brahmas had taken the advantage when Rio Grande Valley's Mike Wilson got sent off for interference. Ross Rouleau provided the assist.

Texas forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. The Brahmas surpassed its season average of 13 penalty minutes per game. Texas put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23 it averages per game.
