Rapid City survives Laredo comeback, wins 4-3Rushmore Plaza Civic Arena Fri, Feb 17, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Rapid City came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Laredo Bucks, but did just enough to escape with a 4-3 victory. Rapid City led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Rapid City's Konrad Reeder's scored on the power play at 8:27 in the second period to put Rapid City up 4-1. Rapid City got the win behind a great game by Reeder, who had two goals and one assist. Reeder scored the first of his two goals at 2:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City. Shawn Limpright provided the assist. Reeder's next tally made the score Rapid City with 11:33 left in the second period. Rapid City had taken the advantage when Laredo's Matt Hanson got sent off for hooking. Scott Wray picked up the assist. Rapid City managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Rapid City ended up below its season average of 18 penalty minutes per game. Rapid City's offense was clicking better than usual and put 31 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25 shots per game it averages. Rapid City additionally got points from Jeff Kyrzakos, who also registered one goal and one assist and Wray, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Rapid City came via Collin Circelli, who had one and Kelly Czuy, who had two. The Bucks relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as A.J. Hau, Matt Boyd and Erik Boisvert took 14 of the team's 26 shots. Laredo got a goal from Rusty Masters as well. In addition, Laredo received assists from Trevor Hunt, Neil Trimm, and Adam Rivet, who contributed one each. Rapid City's Tim Boron stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Rapid City registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Ryan Rondeau turned away 27 pucks between the pipes for Laredo. The Bucks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
