Kerbashian's big game bests Denver in 5-2 Allen win

Behind a great game by Kale Kerbashian, who had two goals and one assist, the Allen Americans defeated the Denver Cutthroats, 5-2.

Kerbashian found the back of the net 11:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Allen and again while 19:26 into the third to make the score 5-2 Allen.

The win by Allen clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Denver's power play was ineffective against the Americans' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Allen additionally got points from Jonathan Lessard, who also registered one goal and one assist. Allen also had goals scored by Jamie Schaafsma and Darryl Bootland, who scored one goal each. More assists for Allen came via Jonathon Zion, who had two and Daniel Tetrault, Brian McMillin, Anthony Maiani, and Spencer Asuchak, who contributed one each.

The Cutthroats stifled Allen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Denver was helped by Kyle Fletcher, who tallied one goal. Fletcher scored on the power play 9:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Denver. The Cutthroats had gotten the advantage when the Americans' Asuchak was sent off for tripping. Cam Reid picked up the assist. Denver also got points from Lee Moffie, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Mikael Tam, who had one.

Bryan Pitton rejected 27 shots on goal for Allen. The Americans incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kent Patterson recorded 23 saves for Denver. The Cutthroats incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
