Brampton outlasts Allen, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Brampton Beast escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Allen Americans.

Brampton gained the winning advantage on a goal by Tylor Michel 4:40 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

After the loss made the series score 1-3 in the best of seven series, Allen faces elimination next time out.

Matt Caruana had a great game for the Beast, netting two goals. Caruana's tallies came on the power play at 16:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brampton and 18:25 into the third to make the score 4-2 Brampton.

Brampton stifled the Americans' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Allen was unable to stop the Beast from sending pucks towards the net, and Brampton eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Brampton additionally got points from Michel, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Michael MacIsaac also scored for Brampton. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Steve Makway, who had two and Steve Ward and Thomas Stajan, who each chipped in one.

The Americans forced the Beast goalie Kristofer Westblom to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Allen was helped by Anthony Maiani, who grabbed one goal. Maiani scored 15:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Greger Hanson provided the assist. Allen also got points from Hanson, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Allen came via Bruce Graham, Spencer Asuchak, and Jonathan Lessard, who contributed one each.

Brampton's Westblom stopped 41 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Beast totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For Brampton, Frank Littlejohn was ejected from the game. Bryan Pitton made 35 saves for the Americans on 38 shots. Allen incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
