Arizona beats Missouri 4-3 after comeback scare

The Missouri Mavericks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Arizona Sundogs held on for a 4-3 victory.

Arizona made the score 4-2 on a goal by Paul McIlveen at 16:23 in the third period, and Missouri got as close as 4-3 when Tyler Currier scored 17:34 into the third period.

With the win, the Sundogs evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

McIlveen had a great game for Arizona, netting two goals.

The Sundogs kept the Mavericks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Shane Owen made 38 saves on 42 shots.

Arizona also had goals scored by Shawn Limpright and Kevin Baker, who each put in one. In addition, Arizona received assists from Mike Forney, Matt McCready, Bryan Cameron, Johan Ryd, Alex Tuckerman, and Brandon Coccimiglio, who contributed one each.

Missouri relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Andrew Courtney, Colt King and Mike Ramsay took 18 of the team's 30 shots.

More assists for Missouri came via Trevor Kell, who had two and Matt Stephenson and Sebastien Thinel, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Engelage made 27 saves for Arizona on 30 shots. The Sundogs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Mavericks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
