A hat trick by Spencer Asuchak was the highlight in Americans' 7-2 win against the St. Charles Chill.

Asuchak notched his first tally 11:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:11 into the second and at 16:17 into the third.

The Allen Americans were often in penalty trouble, totaling 12 minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Allen surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Americans bested their season scoring average. This season, Allen averages 3.7 goals per contest. The Americans relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Asuchak, Greger Hanson and Jamie Schaafsma took 24 of the team's 46 shots. Allen was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of nine man advantages.

Allen additionally got points from Hanson, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jonathan Lessard, who also had one goal and two assists. Tyler Ludwig also scored for Allen. More assists for Allen came via Anthony Maiani, who had three and Daniel Tetrault, Brian McMillin, and Bruce Graham, who contributed one each.

St. Charles racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 13 minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game the Chill had been spending in the box. With 35 shots on target during the contest, St. Charles exceeded the 19.7 shots it averages per game this year.

The Chill were helped by Charles Lachance, who registered one goal and one assist. Lachance scored on the power play 11:45 into the third period to make the score 6-2 Allen. St. Charles had gained a power play chance when Tetrault was whistled for hooking. John Snowden provided the assist. St. Charles also got points from Snowden, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for St. Charles were Nick Schneider and TJ Moor, who each chipped in one.

Eric Levine made nine saves before being replaced by Bryan Pitton, who took the win and made 24 saves. Linus Lundin took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Robert Moss who made 22 saves. The Chill registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
