Rimmer stymies St. Charles, Quad City wins 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Ty Rimmer helped the Quad City Mallards defeat the St. Charles Chill, 4-1.

Quad City was paced by Matt Boyd, who registered one goal. Boyd scored 1:35 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Gergo Nagy provided the assist.

The Mallards put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Charles to score on any of its three power plays. Quad City's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.1 shots per game it averages.

Quad City additionally got points from Mike Stinziani, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Quad City also had goals scored by Michael Monfredo and Justin Fox, who each put in one. In addition, Quad City received assists from Jordan Mayer, who had two and Vladimir Nikiforov, Thomas Frazee, Gabriel Levesque, and Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who contributed one each.

The Chill stifled the Mallards' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Charles put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 19.0 it averages per game.

The Chill were led by John Snowden, who scored the team's only goal. Snowden scored 17:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nicklas Lindberg picked up the assist.

Rimmer rejected 26 shots on goal for Quad City. The Mallards totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Linus Lundin recorded 31 saves for St. Charles. The Chill ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
