Rapid City vanquishes Quad City in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Winston Day Chief scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Rapid City picked up the extra point in a 3-2 (1-0 SO) win over the Quad City Mallards.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams.

Rapid City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jared Brown, Anthony Perdicaro and Jesse Schultz took 13 of the team's 22 shots.

In addition, Rapid City received assists from Riley Weselowski, Bobby Preece, and Ben Power, who contributed one each.

Quad City stifled Rapid City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Mallards were helped by Thomas Frazee, who grabbed one goal. Frazee scored 4:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City. Jeff Lee picked up the assist. Quad City also got a goal from Vladimir Nikiforov as well. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Nicholas Rioux, Gergo Nagy, and Nick Grasso, who each chipped in one.

Tim Boron made 22 saves for Rapid City on 24 shots. Rapid City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ty Rimmer rejected 19 shots on goal for Quad City. The Mallards incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
