Denver uses shootout to best Allen, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

The Denver Cutthroats and the Allen Americans both failed to score in overtime, but Denver won the game 4-3 (2-1 SO) after Cam Reid's deciding goal in the shootout.

The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Allen's shootout goal was scored by Greger Hanson. The Cutthroats also got a shootout goal from Vincent Arseneau.

Denver saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Cutthroats made the score 3-1 on a goal by Daniel Barczuk at 6:17 in the third period. The Americans evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Hanson at 19:14 in the third period.

Denver was led by Barczuk, who tallied one goal.

The Cutthroats got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The 49 shots that Denver put on net surpassed the Cutthroats' average of 28.0 shots per game this season.

Others who scored for Denver included Lee Moffie and Sean Zimmerman, who each put in one. In addition, Denver received assists from Troy Schwab, Robin Soudek, Phil Tesoriero, TJ Fox, Matt Glasser, and Arseneau, who each chipped in one.

Allen's offense rang up 45 shots on Denver's net.

Allen additionally got points from Spencer Asuchak, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Allen came via Brian McMillin, Alex Lavoie, Bruce Graham, and Jamie Schaafsma, who contributed one each.

John Griggs rejected 42 shots on goal for the Cutthroats. Denver incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Americans' Bryan Pitton stopped 45 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Allen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
