The Denver Cutthroats and the Brampton Beast both failed to score in overtime, but Denver won the game 5-4 (3-2 SO) after Kyle Fletcher's deciding goal in the shootout. The shootout lasted for 18 attempts between the teams. Brampton got shootout goals from Jason Pitton and Tylor Michel. In addition to the clincher, the Cutthroats got shootout goals from Garett Bembridge and Cam Reid.Denver saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Cutthroats made the score 4-2 on a goal by Robin Soudek at 17:42 in the second period. The Beast evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Andrew Fournier at 10:04 in the third period. Denver was paced by Aaron MacKenzie, who registered one goal. MacKenzie scored short handed 6:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Denver. The Cutthroats were on a disadvantage when AJ Gale went off the ice for cross checking. Sean Zimmerman picked up the assist. Denver's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brampton power plays. The Cutthroats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 41 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.3 shots per game they average.
