Quad City boosted by Rimmer's play in net, beats Missouri 5-1

Ty Rimmer stood on his head and made 30 saves to lead the Quad City Mallards to a 5-1 victory over the Missouri Mavericks.

Missouri's power play was ineffective against Quad City's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Mallards were led by Justin Fox, who registered one goal. Fox scored 4:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Vladimir Nikiforov picked up the assist.

Quad City's defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring two goals and taking 12 shots. The Mallards' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Quad City finished with 28 penalty minutes.

Quad City also got points from Nicholas Rioux, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Gabriel Levesque, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Quad City also got a goal from Nick Grasso as well. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Gergo Nagy, who had two and Tyler Yaworski, Jeff Lee, and Matt Duffy, who each chipped in one.

The Mavericks' offense operated below they season average. Missouri averages 3.5 goals per game. The Mavericks forced the Mallards goalie Rimmer to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Missouri could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Mavericks were led by Eric Castonguay, who scored the team's only goal. Castonguay scored on the power play 5:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. A slashing penalty on Nagy had put Missouri on the power play. Sebastien Thinel provided the assist.

Quad City registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Mavericks' Erno Suomalainen stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced.
