Quad City downs Allen, 5-2

Nicolas Rioux had one point to lead the Quad City Mallards to a 5-2 victory over the Allen Americans.

Allen was unable to stop Quad City from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mallards eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Quad City relied heavily on its defensemen to assist its forwards, and the blueliners responded by scoring three goals on 15 shots.

Quad City also got points from Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Quad City also had goals scored by Mike Stinziani, Matt Boyd, and Matt Duffy, who each put in one. In addition, Quad City received assists from Tyler Yaworski, Mike Hellyer, and Gergo Nagy, who contributed one a piece and Vladimir Nikiforov and Nick Grasso, who each chipped in two.

The Americans were led by Jamie Schaafsma, who registered one goal and one assist. Schaafsma scored 7:09 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Tetrault provided the assist. Kale Kerbashian also scored for Allen. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Alex Lavoie and Jonathan Lessard, who contributed one a piece.

The Mallards' Ty Rimmer stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Quad City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Bryan Pitton made 27 saves for Allen on 31 shots. The Americans incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
