Brampton boosted by Westblom's play in net, beats St. Charles 3-1The Family Arena Sat, Feb 01, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Kristofer Westblom stood on his head and made 28 saves to lead the Brampton Beast to a 3-1 victory over the St. Charles Chill. Brampton was led by Tyler Butler, who finished with one goal. Butler scored on the power play 14:42 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. The Beast had taken the advantage when St. Charles' Travis Ouellette got sent off for hooking. Steve Ward provided the assist. Brampton stifled the Chill's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Beast's defensemen played well offensively, producing two goals while racking up nine shots. Brampton also got points from Ward, who also had one goal and one assist. Andrew Fournier also scored for Brampton. In addition, Brampton received assists from Michael MacIsaac, Tylor Michel, Matt Caruana, and Jamie VanderVeeken, who each chipped in one. St. Charles' offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 17.2 shots per game it averages. The Chill were led by Kyle OKane, who scored the team's only goal. OKane scored 9:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Charles Lachance picked up the assist. Brampton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Linus Lundin recorded 19 saves for St. Charles. The Chill incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
