The Wichita Thunder came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Allen Americans, but did just enough to escape with a 5-4 victory. Wichita led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Thunder's Ian Lowe's scored at 7:48 in the second period to put Wichita up 4-1. The Thunder racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Wichita surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Thunder's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 12 shots between them. Wichita was led by Nick McParland, who had one goal and one assist. McParland scored 9:34 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Wichita. Dustin Donaghy provided the assist. Kerbashian scored 11:29 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Wichita. Jonathan Lessard assisted on the tally. Allen additionally got points from Lessard, who also registered one goal and one assist. Allen also had goals scored by Gregor Hanson and Ryley Grantham, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Brian McMillin, who had two and Tyler Ludwig, Alex Lavoie, and Jamie Schaafsma, who each chipped in one. David Brown made 27 saves for the Thunder on 31 shots. Wichita registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Bryan Pitton rejected 23 shots on goal for the Americans.
