McQuade nets hat trick, leads Brampton to 6-3 win over St. Charles

The St. Charles Chill could not stop the Brampton Beast's Josh McQuade, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

McQuade's first goal came 2:19 into the second period. He then added goals at 12:58 into the second and at 5:20 into the third.

Brampton bested its season scoring average. The Beast average 3.1 goals per game. Brampton found itself short handed often, totaling 19 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays. With 36 shots on target during the contest, the Beast exceeded the 26.7 shots they average per game this year.

Brampton also had goals scored by Andrew Fournier, Steve Makway, and Calin Wild, who each put in one. In addition, Brampton received assists from Steve Ward, who had three, Jason Pitton, Rob Collins, Tyler Butler, and Jamie VanderVeeken, who each chipped in one, and Tylor Michel and Matt Caruana, who contributed two a piece.

St. Charles relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Frank Littlejohn, Michael MacIntyre and Nicklas Lindberg took 18 of the team's 33 shots.

St. Charles also got points from Dan Weiss, who also registered one goal and one assist. Charles Lachance also scored for St. Charles. More assists for St. Charles came via Nick Schneider and Martin Hlinka, who each chipped in one.

Kristofer Westblom made 30 saves for Brampton on 33 shots. The Beast registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Linus Lundin rejected 30 shots on goal for the Chill. St. Charles ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
