Wichita downs Missouri, 2-1

Jon Booras finished with one point to lead the Wichita Thunder to a 2-1 victory over the Missouri Mavericks.

Wichita forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 22 minutes in penalty time. The Thunder had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. Wichita excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The 32 shots that the Thunder put on net surpassed Wichita's average of 26.3 shots per game this season.

Tomas Klempa also scored for Wichita. In addition, Wichita received assists from Matt Robinson, RG Flath, Matt Summers, and Andrew Martens, who contributed one a piece.

Missouri was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. The Mavericks surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Missouri's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Wichita power plays. The Mavericks' offense operated below they season average. Missouri puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

The Mavericks were led by Anders Franzon, who scored the team's only goal. Franzon scored 3:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. Trevor Kell picked up the assist.

The Thunder's David Brown stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Shane Owen recorded 30 saves for Missouri.
