Gordon's hat trick boosts Tulsa over Brampton, 7-2

Ben Gordon lifted the Tulsa Oilers to a 7-2 victory with a hat trick against the Brampton Beast.

Gordon's first goal came 8:13 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:06 into the third and at 15:23 into the third.

Tulsa found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Oilers average 3.5 goals per game. Tulsa was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled five minors and two majors for 20 minutes in penalty time. The Oilers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Michel Beausoleil, Gordon and Ryan Cramer took 14 of the team's 27 shots.

Tulsa additionally got points from Beausoleil, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Todd Robinson, who had three, Macaulay Macaulay, Ryan Menei, Adam Pleskach, Drew Fisher, Cody Dion, and Eric Tallent, who contributed one a piece, and Nathan Lutz and B Macaulay, who each chipped in two.

Brampton was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game the Beast had been spending in the box.

Brampton was led by Jason Pitton, who finished with two goals. Pitton scored the first of his two goals at 18 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Steve Makway assisted on the tally. Pitton's next tally made the score 3-2 Tulsa with 9:36 left in the third period. Rob Collins provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Jamie VanderVeeken and Scotty Howes, who contributed one a piece.

Shane Madolora made 23 saves for Tulsa on 25 shots. The Oilers registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Grant Rollheiser recorded 20 saves for the Beast. Brampton registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
