Guggenberger, Allen blank Denver, 5-0

Mark Guggenberger made 34 saves to complete the shutout and led the Allen Americans to a 5-0 win against the Denver Cutthroats.

Kale Kerbashian had one goal and three assists to lead Allen. Kerbashian scored 13:19 into the third period to make the score 5-0 Allen. Garrett Klotz picked up the assist.

The Americans excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Allen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Allen also got points from Jamie Schaafsma, who also registered one goal and one assist. Allen also had goals scored by Gregor Hanson, Spencer Asuchak, and Jonathan Lessard, who each put in one. In addition, Allen received assists from Alex Lavoie, who had two and Tyler Ludwig and Dallas Ehrhardt, who contributed one a piece.

Denver did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Cutthroats average 3.1 goals per game. Denver relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Garrett Bembridge, Steve Kaunisto and Aaron MacKenzie took 19 of the team's 34 shots.

The Americans registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Kent Patterson recorded 24 saves for the Cutthroats. Denver incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
