Jean-Philipp Chabot had two goals to lead the Denver Cutthroats to a 2-0 victory over the Tulsa Oilers. Chabot's tallies came on the power play at 17:36 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Denver and on the power play 4:18 into the third to make the score 2-0 Denver.Kent Patterson spearheaded the defensive effort for Denver, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 41 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Patterson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.77. The Cutthroats' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Tulsa power plays. Denver featured an improved defense during the game. The Cutthroats gives up 3.0 goals on average per game. Denver relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Garrett Bembridge, Daniel Barczuk and Chabot took 21 of the team's 41 shots. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Steve Kaunisto and Troy Schwab, who each chipped in one. Tulsa could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Tulsa was led by Ben Gordon, who took six shots. Denver incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Shane Madolora recorded 39 saves for the Oilers. Tulsa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
