Allen wins tough contest against Rapid City, 4-3

The Allen Americans and Rapid City were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Allen made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Kale Kerbashian secured the win for the Americans with a goal in the third period.

In the losing effort, Rapid City was led by Winston Day Chief, who racked up two goals. Day Chief scored the first of his two goals at 3:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City. Day Chief's next tally made the score 3-3 with 1:55 left in the second period. Jesse Schultz assisted on the tally.

Allen relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Tyler Ludwig, Alex Lavoie and Jamie Schaafsma took 22 of the team's 38 shots. The Americans' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 16 shots between them.

Allen additionally got points from Phil Fox, who also registered one goal and one assist and Lavoie, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Jonathan Lessard, who had one and Mike Berube and Gregor Hanson, who each chipped in two.

Rapid City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Day Chief, Schultz and Konrad Reeder took 17 of the team's 33 shots.

Rapid City also got points from Schultz, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Rapid City came via Jordan Behler, who had one.

Bryan Pitton recorded 30 saves for Allen. The Americans incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Rapid City took out Tim Boron after he had made 17 saves and installed Keaton Hartigan in goal, where he finished with 17 saves and the loss. Rapid City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
