Brampton uses shootout to best St. Charles, 4-3 (2-1 SO)The Family Arena Sat, Nov 30, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Jason Pitton scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Brampton Beast picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (2-1 SO) win over the St. Charles Chill. The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. St. Charles' shootout goal was scored by Anthony Perdicaro. In addition to the clincher, Brampton got a shootout goal from Tylor Michel.The Beast came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Brampton was down 3-1 after a goal by the Chill's Kyle OKane at 19:42 in the second period. The Beast knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Matt Caruana at 17:28 in the third period. Rob Collins was all over the ice for Brampton, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Collins scored on the power play at 56 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brampton and again while on the power play 15:42 into the third to make the score 3-2 St. Charles. The Beast relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Collins, Michel and Jamie VanderVeeken took 18 of the team's 35 shots. More assists for Brampton came via Ben Woodley and Andrew Fournier, who contributed one a piece. St. Charles found itself short handed often, totaling 21 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays. The defense for the Chill played an important role offensively, racking up 16 shots on goal. With 36 shots on target during the contest, St. Charles exceeded the 21.5 shots it averages per game this year. St. Charles also had goals scored by Andrew Conboy and Phil Buschbacher, who each put in one. In addition, St. Charles received assists from Dan Weiss, Kevin Noble, Steve Anthony, Perdicaro, and Jordan Fox, who each chipped in one. Kristofer Westblom made 33 saves for Brampton on 36 shots. The Beast ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Robert Moss rejected 31 shots on goal for the Chill. St. Charles registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
